Sharon Crowe Pishl has been working with horses for over 40 years, and running The Equine Retreat since 1990. Her specialties include breeding, foaling, and caring for injured horses. She enjoys caring for high maintenance horses, and horses requiring extra TLC.
Sharon grew up on a Farrow-Finish hog farm where her focus was on the genetics end-breeding, farrowing and the breeding stock production and selection, since the hog farm was a completely closed herd (no live animals came onto the property, just cooled semen). Growing up Sharon owned 2horses, took riding lessons, and worked with many equine vets. Sharon had the privilege to work with and learn from Mr. Joe Bakos, who was the caretaker for all horses in Dr. Robert Martins' veterinary hospital, during which time Sharon learn first hand post trauma and post surgical care. Sharon studied in the Bachelor of Science honours program for a year, then returned home to help run the hog operation with her family. Sharon has one son, Michael who is the "handy man" on the farm, and takes care of the barn and paddocks. In her spare time, Sharon enjoys riding her horses, and helping future Equestrians. |
